Description

Clydesdale mare from Schleich

Clydesdales are strong, large horses. Typical are the slightly curved nose, the long ears and the short neck. They have a friendly temperament, are willing to work and versatile. Shoeing a Clydesdale can be quite a sweaty affair for a blacksmith. The horseshoes are not only extremely large, but also weigh a good 2.5 kilograms. This makes them four to five times the weight of the irons of warm-blooded or thoroughbred horses. Although Clyesdales are rather massive and especially heavy, they can move very elegantly. They are known to lift their beautiful white legs especially sweeping and high. Therefore, they are not only used as draft horses, but also for shows and in street parades. Country of origin: Scotland, 18th century Main breeding area: Scotland Distribution: moderate Stock size: 163-193 cm Colors: The horses are consistently Sabino pinto, in which the spotting is usually represented by four white boots and a lantern or broad blaze on the face. The coat color is mostly brown, rarely black. Perfect as draft horse
